Kusab director Tim Maycock was for many years a police custody officer. After becoming involved in multi discipline training Tim took a particular interest in training custody staff.
Tim is now considered an expert in training staff to work in the police custody environment. This has included managing the curriculum and revising materials working with several constabularies. He has given presentations to regional conferences discussing the welfare and needs of detained persons.
With the advent of the Safer Detention Doctrine he was involved in the NPIA process of developing a training package to cover these aspects. He was also in the forefront of introducing compliant working practices against a hostile background from some practitioners and managers.
He has produced and introduced locally an NVQ style accreditation system for all police custody staff based on the National Occupational Standards for the various roles. This is not accredited to an awarding body but adheres to the principles of NVQ assessment and verification. NVQ based systems are becoming available and this can be discussed if required.
Tim is an experienced HYDRA facilitator and is able to deliver the 2 day custody officer Hydra if suitable facilities are available. Using an NCALT Hydra suite is usually free to the user but does need booking well in advance . Where used as part of the custody office course this element of the training consistently scores the highest approval ratings with delegates.
